I have lived in rural central Texas all my life, and am blessed to be surrounded by family and friends, beautiful countryside, and to have the opportunity to work the land with my husband and kids. Raising and preserving the Bashkir Curly Horse since 1998 has taken me on paths I never expected to travel – they are a truly wonderful breed!

I was just be-bopping around the net and came across a reference to *Curly* horses. Googled it and came here. I have never heard of curly horses but am greatly impressed. I’m a horse lover from wayback but living in the middle of Irving (TX) and finances being what they are … well, 2 cats made do. Thank you for your wonderful pictures and blog. I feel if I know each and every one of your babies now. I will be back.
I am glad you found the Curlies! If you ever want to come out and see them in person, just give me a call – they LOVE visitors! Have a great day!
Just shopping trail geldings/prospects and found your site! Beautiful horses. Chama is so sweet looking, just very huggable.
Found one that I guess is out of a stallion you bred, Stag Creek Berndt Warrior.
Anyways, you have beautiful horses!
Hello,
I had heard of horses called Curlies, but had no idea what that meant. How fortunate that today, I stumbled upon The Horse Show with Rick Lamb, featuring Stag Creek Farm.
I learned so much about the Curlies, a most beautiful breed. The charm of the Curlies, Stag Creek Farm, and you was so endearing. I could see the love you have for this life with Curlies.
As a former fiber artist, the segment of the use of Curlie yarns in crafting was so fine, made me want to try my hand at it again.
Thank you so much for this show, such a sweet treasure!
Thanks so much Theresa! Your comment made my day! I’m so glad you got to see the show, and that you liked it! You are right – it is a beautiful breed – and the beauty starts on the inside, and they have a way of wrapping themselves around your heart! We feel so blessed to be involved with them.
Have the greatest day!
Barbara
PS…Love this blog!
We have a young lady who owns a curly and I would love to get her a curly horse made by your friend in BC but can’t find her site Jennifer I think was her name on the tv spot.
It’s Jenn Scharf at Double J and D Acres in British Columbia. Her website is http://www.doublejanddacres.com Hope you can find a Curly Fibre Pony for your friend! Have the greatest day!
Hi! I am doing a report on this breed. I was wondering if I could use some of your wonderful pictures from you website, in my report? I would also put where I got the photos from, however. I would just like your permission.
Thanks!
Miss Ahrens
Yes, that will be fine! Good luck with your report!
Thank you! I can even send you the report!

Hello, I love the pictures of your curly horses! What an ideal life y’all have on your ranch, raising your horses! I just recently heard about curly horses, and am so excited about them. My daughter and I are very allergic to horses. I cannot afford to keep a horse, but I would love to someday. I think curly horses would be wonderful for riding stables to have, so that those who are allergic would be able to ride occasionally. We live in Colorado, but we are from Texas, and if I have the opportunity, I would like to visit your ranch. Do y’all homeschool? We are also Christians, and we home-schooled or children.
Thank you,
Kimberly
Thank you Kimberly for your kind words! yes, the Curlies are amazing! I do hope you get to own one some day! We would love to have you visit some time, the Curlies love that too! We also have friends in Colorado that have Curlies, so if visiting there would be a better idea for you guys, just send me an email, and I will connect you with them. I only have one child left at home – a senior this year, and we only homeschooled for a bit – when we adopted from Russia, but otherwise, they have gone to school in our small town. Have a super day!
Hello, I would assume because of allergies, one could not board Curlies with other horses, and I doubt most stables would not have a separate stable area. Am I right?
If you have allergies and are wanting to avoid a reaction, you are correct, it would be best to stable your Curly individually of other breeds. Each person reacts differently so it’s always a good idea to test out the different possibilities. Thanks for your question and let me know if I can help in any way! Have a great day!
Thank you, we will be moving to Southern Colorado to retire in a couple of years, and I am also very allergic to horses. I found your website and I’m encouraged that we may be able to have a couple of horses when we retire. Wondering if you would have knowledge of any stables down by Trinidad Colorado that would have the ability to house Curlies separately? Long shot, but I thought I would ask.
We sold a Curly to Trinidad a few years ago, but I no longer have their contact info. It is a beautiful area though and hopefully you will find something that will work! Riding in those mountains would be incredible!
